Hugh’s career experience as an attorney is well rounded. He has civil and criminal trial experience. He has served as a city attorney, a municipal prosecutor, an assistant county attorney, and an assistant district attorney. This included all types of litigation ranging from civil rights and employment lawsuits to tort and negligence claims.
In private practice, Hugh has represented individuals and businesses in corporate business matters and in claims involving the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, Age and Sex discrimination, Worker's Compensation Retaliation Cases, Unemployment Disputes and other employment law matters. This includes experience drafting and implementing human resources policies and standard operating procedures as well as drafting and negotiating employment agreements, severance agreements, non-compete agreements, corporate formations, real estate transactions, and buy-sell agreements.
Hugh Coleman is an active member of the legal community. He is a Past President of the Denton County Bar Association and is a past President of the Denton County Young Lawyers Association. Coleman was also instrumental in the creation of the highly acclaimed Denton County Alternative Dispute Resolution Program (DCAP), which provides pro bono and low cost mediation services to residents of Denton County.
Hugh is passionate about public service and has served as the Denton County Commissioner for Precinct #1 since 2009. He is active in the Denton Community and you will frequently find him at local events. He is active member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and also serves as a Boy Scout Leader.

Ms. Mandy Smithers is the office manager and paralegal. Mandy attended Texas Woman’s University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science and attended
Southeastern Paralegal Institute (now known as Kaplan College) and graduated from one of their first classes in the bourgeoning legal assistant career field. Mandy has been a legal assistant and paralegal for almost 30 years. She is retired from a 24 year career with the Denton County Sheriff’s Office where she worked as the Senior Paralegal for their in-house legal department. She enjoys photography, sports, and you will frequently find her at various dog related events with one of her Norwegian Elkhound dogs.
